Building a framework.

Guiding innovation.

The task

My team and I were tasked with the opportunity to review one of the bank’s most used product online application to identify problem areas using existing research (e.g. an existing backlog of items highlighting pain points) and to find ways to enhance the overall application.

The problem

The application involved a lot of pages and my team and I needed a way to audit the whole application in an organized and efficient manner. So what we needed to address was how might we develop a framework that helps us prioritize and address pain points within the application effectively?

What are the goals and needs for this project?

To develop a framework that can be applied consistently and be used objectively throughout the application to help my team and I identify major pain points.

The tools

Pieces to the puzzle that ultimately helped create the final framework:

  • Each team members personal UX knowledge and experience

  • Shared resources amongst the bank’s larger design team such as existing UX research and usability research

  • Researching already established frameworks e.g. A11Y, Neilson Norman Group

  • Investigating the “why’s” of business requirements and technology constraints
